About 170 people participated in the third family reunion, in Chapecó, Santa Catarina.
The meeting began on Saturday with the "Filó Familiar". Integration continued on Sunday when most of the participants arrived. Our family was expressively represented by relatives from the state of Santa Catarina followed by Rio Grande do Sul.
The Meeting took place in two places: the CTG Coxilha do Quero-Quero and in the Comunidade Nossa Senhora da Saúde, at Vista Alegre Neighborhood.
Breakfast was served at 8am. At 10.30 the Holy Mass began in gratitude for the life of Luigi and Bernardina and all the ancestors of the Family who have already left us. Also a moment to ask for the needs of countless descendants and families scattered throughout Brazil.
Shortly after the Mass, at the CTG, lunch and music moments, integration among the participants took place.
It was a very well organized and joyful meeting that strengthened our family ties. Certainly Luigi and Bernardina are proud of the family.
Sincere gratitude to all the staff from Chapecó who organized this meeting with such a care.
No doubt the image of Italy, beloved homeland, did not leave the memory of Italian immigrants. Even in Brazilian lands, immigrants sought to recreate and preserve many of the Italian way of life, food and religiosity of wistful Italy. Many Brazilians places received names of known places in Italy, in the hope that the beloved land in memory will never be erased. It is true that not only fond memories of Italy are found in the trunk of immigrant also a country that mistreated by poverty, hunger, lack of jobs and land but, after all, the earth mother will always be the home of those absent.
In this mix of longing and desire to return one day to their country of origin the Italian was rebuilding his life in Brazil. Surely Luigi and Bernardina harbored the same desire to one day return to Italy. This was unfortunately not possible while they were alive.
But 130 years after his departure from Béssica di Loria, in northern Italy, living in the heart and in the veins of his descendants, Luigi and Bernardina return home. Return through the Father Marcelo Carlesso, descendent of Luigi and Bernardina on his recent visit to Carlesso relatives who remained in Italy. Father Marcelo arrived there on June 29 and stayed for six days staying with Orlando Carlesso and his wife Matilde, coexisting children Basil and Paolo, and their wives.
That were days of deep living with other relatives who daily went to the Orlando home. Days when you can see more of the reality of the inhabitants of Veneto, which still emigrate to other countries in search of better living conditions.
Opportunities to meet the important places and homes for the family, as the house where Luigi was born, the water well and the bell tower of the Church of Béssica who helped build.
Thanks to all the family of Orlando and Matilde by generosity in welcoming. There were moments of deep family life as if, in fact, we were one family, only separated by time and distance.
